WE DEVELOP SIMULATION-BASED LEARNING PROGRAMS FOR SOFT-SKILL TRAINING AND BEHAVIORAL CHANGE
EXISTING WORKPLACE TRAININGS ARE BROKEN
Many workplace trainings on soft skills and behavioral topics like leadership and team collaboration rely on simplistic quizzes with “right” and “wrong” answers. They assume that behavioural change is as easy as following a checklist, overlooking the complexity of real-world dynamics.
Individuals experience these trainings as judgmental, non-engaging and boring. The result? No meaningful learning and no real change.
DISCOVER A BETTER WAY OF LEARNING
IT’S UP TO YOU develops interactive simulation trainings for organisations to help drive behavioural change on a range of business critical themes. Using experiential learning, employees freely experiment with tailored fictional workplace situations and experience the consequences of their actions. Afterwards, they participate in group-based workshops to agree on concrete behaviours and initiatives to drive measurable change.
SIMULATION-BASED LEARNING CAN TACKLE A VARIETY OF TOPICS, INCLUDING:
-
HIGH-PERFORMING TEAMS
Transform your teams and create high-performing work environments where potential is maximised
-
LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
Enable (future) leaders with key skills to let them and their teams thrive in a changing technology landscape
-
CULTURAL TRANSFORMATION
Embed new ways of working and strong and effective team cultures after impactful transformations
HOW IT WORKS?
Our 1/2 day training methodology consist of 3 parts, plus follow-up.
-
Participants start off by going through an immersive simulation, using their laptop/pc or VR headset. They experience the fictional story of an employee recounting different fictional events at the office. The viewer chooses how the employee responds in different situations and experiences the consequences of those choices.
The simulation can play out in more than 80 different ways. Employees are encouraged to go the simulation 2-3 times and experiment with different choices.
-
In the second part, the knowledge participants gained from the simulation is put to use in a group-based workshop. Participants are encouraged to reflect on their own attitudes and behaviors. They form a group consensus as to what they believe is needed to create a more inclusive working environment.
-
In the last part, employees define concrete and measurable initiatives that are needed to drive the change. They define KPIs, create a planning and assign ownership for the implementation on relevant levels within the organisation. The group also explicitly commits to buy-in for the change.

FAQ
-
The IT’S UP TO YOU trainings are typically used at three different levels: (executive) Leadership, team/project leads and operational teams.
Depending on the specific team that undergoes the training, the types of outcomes and commitments made during the exercises vary.
-
A combination of facilitated in-person training & self-facilitated training online.
For example: Your executive and key leadership teams are trained with our professional trainers. We take care of everything on-site, from preparation to execution. It is a hassle free experience. To scale the training towards other teams in your organisation, we use a self-facilitated training. That means that employees (such as HR or team managers) facilitate the training for their teams themselves. We provide online access to the simulation & workshop materials as well as a Train-de-Trainer sessions.
-
Experiential Learning trainings bring multiple benefits:
It allows participants to experiment with near real-life situations without actually having to experience them.
This significantly increases participant engagement and the willingness to talk about specific - oftentimes difficult to discuss - topics.
The experimentation part ensures that participants experience a range of different perspectives, allowing them to talk about the topics in meaningful ways.
Participants train faster, are more confident in applying what they learned, are more connected to the actual content and more focused.
It can be a cost-effective means of experiential learning compared to bringing in professional actors on location.
